Atkinson Art Gallery

The Gallery located in Lord Street, Southport was opened in 1878 following a donation by William Atkinson of £6,000 to the Southport Corporation to build an art gallery and library for the town. It houses permanent collections including 19th and 20th century watercolours and oil paintings with works by L.S. Lowry, John Piper and Henry Moore. Each month a painting is selected by a gallery expert who gives a talk about the artist and subject .
