Bury Art Gallery

The gallery was specifically built to house the Wrigley Collection comprising more than two hundred oil paintings, watercolours, prints and ceramics collected by local paper manufacturer Thomas Wrigley. They were donated by his children in 1897 and the gallery opened to the public in 1901. Artists represented include Turner, Landseer, Constable, Birket Foster, Holman Hunt, David Roberts, David Cox, Peter De Wint and George Clausen. Contemporary additions include works by Victor Pasmore, Patrick Procktor, Edward Burra and LS Lowry.

The gallery was closed for a period to facilitate a major £1.2 million refurbishment and was reopened a year later in 2005. In 2011 it was renamed Bury Art Museum
