Fitzwilliam Museum

This world renowned establishment owes its foundation to Richard, 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion who, in 1816, bequeathed to the University of Cambridge his art collection and library, together with funds to both house and extend the collection. Few museums in the world contain, on a single site, collections of such variety and depth.

The art works range from masterpieces by Titian, Veronese and Palma Vecchio through to a remarkable range of works by French Impressionist painters and 20th Century prints and paintings by C. R. W. Nevinson, William Nicholson, Frank Auerbach, Tracey Emin, Lucian Freud, Richard Hamilton, Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Robert Bevan, Roger Fry, Harold Gilman, Spencer Gore, Howard Hodgkin, Therese Oulton and Marc Quinn to name but a few.
