Geffrye Museum

The museum, which is located in the east end of London, is set in elegant 18th-century almshouses with a contemporary wing surrounded by attractive gardens, which include an award-winning walled herb garden and a series of period gardens. The Geffrye depicts the quintessential style of English middle-class living rooms with items of period furniture, textiles, paintings and decorative arts displayed in a series of period rooms from 1600 to the present day. It also stages temporary exhibitions and has a small but interesting art collection.

In January 2018, the museum closed for a two-year £18m redevelopment with a projected reopening date of early in 2021. This was delayed due to Covid-19. A name changed was announced in 2019 and it became known as the Museum of the Home.
