Laing Art Gallery

Located in Newcastle upon Tyne, the Laing opened in 1904 and is now managed by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums. It holds an important collection of British watercolours, including works by Turner, Girtin, Cozens and Cotman. Other notable 18th and 19th century works are by John Martin, Joshua Reynolds, Burne Jones and Holman Hunt. The 20th century is well represented by Frank Auerbach, David Bomberg, Duncan Grant, Ivon Hitchens, Henry Moore, Ben Nicholson and Stanley Spencer, as well as a number of contemporary pieces by Chris Ofili, Bruce McLean and Glenn Brown.
