Rozelle House Galleries

Located on the Rozelle Estate in Ayr, Scotland, the original Rozelle mansion dates from 1760 and in the early 19th Century was remodelled, However, by the middle of the 20th century, it had fallen into serious disrepair with hardly any of its original features remaining. To ensure its survival the estate and buildings were donated to the Royal Burgh of Ayr. Nowadays it is the primary museum and art gallery of South Ayrshire. In 1975 a bequest in the will of philanthropist Mary Ellen Maclaurin, (she died in 1971) provided for the provision of an Art Gallery and Museum for the benefit of artists and visitors within the Rozelle mansion. This now houses a fine collection of 20th and 21st-century works of art.

Artists represented include Bridget Riley, John Hoyland, Mary Armour, Ivon Hitchens, Benno Schotz Riley, Roger Hilton, Terry Frost, William Scott and Claes Oldenburg.
