Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum

East Cliff Hall was originally the home of Sir Merton Russell-Cotes and his wife and was built in 1897. In 1907 Cotes’ announced the house was to be donated to the people of Bournemouth for the purpose of displaying their fine collection of art and antiquities acquired in their many journeys around the world. Since then by acquisition and donation the collection has become of the most varied in southern England with over 1000 oil paintings alone in the collection. Artists represented there include Lucy Kemp-Welch, Anna and Laura Alma-Tadema, Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale, Laura Nisbet and Imre Goth to name just a few.
