Solomon Gallery

Trading as Solomon Fine Art, the gallery was established in 1981 and is today recognised as one of Ireland's leading contemporary art galleries. It has an outstanding reputation representing both Irish and international artists working in both figurative and abstract styles and is particularly well known for specialising in bronze sculpture. Solomon Fine Art is now owned and run by Tara Murphy who started working at the gallery in 1994 under the directorship of former owner Suzanne Macdougald. She is a History of Art graduate of University College, Dublin and has over 25 years experience dealing with modern and contemporary Irish art and artists. Artists and sculptors who have shown there include Rowan Gillespie, John Behan, Imogen Stuart, Patrick O’Reilly, Anthony Scott, James Hanley and Comhghall Casey and the internationally renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly.

With a particular emphasis on sculpture, the Solomon has been involved in major commissions and installations of many public sculptures in Dublin. These include Rowan Gillespie’s Famine Group on City Quay and Vivienne Roche’s Iris at the National College of Ireland in the Docklands. The Solomon also deals in early 20th-century art and has shown and sold works by Jack Yeats, Roderic O’Conor, John Lavery, Louis le Brocquy and Lucian Freud, amongst others.
