Stockport Art Gallery

It is correctly known as Stockport War Memorial and Art Gallery and was opened in 1925. It is largely used for temporary exhibitions and does have representation of artists related to the area. These include Alan Lowndes who has been given two retrospectives at Stockport, Georg Eisler, Emanuel Levy, L.S. Lowry, Adolphe Valette and Colin Jellicoe. The Hall of Memory houses a marble sculpture by Gilbert Ledward in memory of the fallen from the area who gave their lives during World War I.
