Towner Art Gallery

Opened in 1923 the Towner Art Gallery was located in an 18th century building in Manor Gardens, Eastbourne. In 2009 a purpose built gallery located nearby opened to the public. The Towner Art Gallery holds one of the most important public art collections in the South East of England comprising more than 4,000 works of art by pre-Victorian, modern and contemporary artists.

The gallery holds a varied collection of works including paintings by Joseph Wright of Derby, Vanessa Bell, David Bomberg, Alan Davie, Tacita Dean, Peter Lanyon, Henry Moore, Julian Opie, Victor Pasmore, Eric Ravilious, Edward Wadsworth, Alfred Wallis and Christopher Wood.
