Wakefield Art Gallery

Wakefield's art gallery was renamed the Hepworth Wakefield in 2011. As its new name suggests, it contains a unique collection of forty sculptures by Barbara Hepworth, gifted by the Hepworth Estate. It will also display the work of Hepworth's contemporaries including David Bomberg, Raymond Coxon, Jacob Epstein, Paul Feiler,Terry Frost, Edna Ginesi, Patrick Heron, Roger Hilton, Ivon Hitchens, John Hoyland, Henry Moore, Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, Vivian Pitchforth and Graham Sutherland, some of whose exhibits were already present in the gallery's previous incarnation. International artists such as Piet Mondrian, Constantin Brancusi and Alberto Giacometti are also represented as well as a collection of contemporary works, including pieces by artists as diverse as Maggi Hambling, Bruce McLean, Anthony Caro, Bryan Kneale, Kim Lim and William Tucker.
