Artist Partners

In 1950 G. Donovan Candler left a major London-based artists agency to set up in business with L.A. Rix, Betty Luton White, John Barker and the designer Reg Mount. They were soon overwhelmed with requests from many of their design colleagues to be represented in their new agency. So in May 1951 in Lower John Street, Soho Artist Partners opened its doors. The Festival of Britain encouraged not only the designers but an eager public to shake of post-war rationing and the depressing times around them and the agency began to flourish.

Arthur Barbosa, Barry Driscoll, Tom Eckersley, Susan Einzig, Henry Hants, Beryl Hartland, George Him, Robert Hodgson, Peter Hutton, Michael Leonard, Alastair Michie, Ben Ostrick, Bruce Petty, Jean Primrose, Aubrey Rix, Phyllis Stroudley, Patrick Tilley, Feliks Topolski, Hans Unger, Norman Weaver, Patrick Williams, A.J.Wilson and Ken Wynn are just a fraction of the artist who received commissions through the Agency in just the first 18 years of its existence. The organisation was still thriving in 2015.
