Henry Moore Institute

The Henry Moore Institute is part of the Henry Moore Foundation, established by sculptor Henry Moore in 1977 and is a registered charity in England, established for education and promotion of the fine arts with an emphasis on the understanding of the works of Henry Moore. The Foundation supports a wide range of projects, including student bursaries, fellowships for artists and financial grants to various arts institutions. It operates from Perry Green, Hertfordshire, Moore's former home and studio and at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds where it is situated in the heart of the city next to Leeds Art Gallery. It is connected to the gallery by a walkway allowing visitors ease of access to both establishments. The Institute showcases the best in international sculpture, both historical and contemporary. It also runs a world-class programme of research and events, and is home to the country's leading sculpture archive.

Between 1988-2003 the Institute funded artists to work in a studio located at Dean Clough, Halifax. It was on a large scale, thereby allowing the occupants the opportunity to hone and develop their working practices. Artists who held residencies included Anthony Caro, Richard Long, Bruce Mclean and Alison Wilding
