Mouth and Foot Painting Artists

MFPA is a partnership of seriously disabled artists all of whom are without hands, but have learned to draw and paint by holding the brush either in the mouth or with the toes. The Association, which is an independent organization, not a charity, is part of the Worldwide Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists formed in 1956 to assist disabled artists to become self-supporting by the sale of their paintings reproduced as cards, calendars and other items. Original work is sold through the MFPA's exhibiting gallery at Selborne in Hampshire, which is open to the public six days a week and usually has one of the artist members in attendance. In addition exhibitions are frequently staged at venues across the UK – such as in Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester – as well as in Europe and throughout the world; MFPA paintings have also been on show at the Royal Festival Hall and at the Houses of Parliament. The work provides a source of inspiration to all who see it, not only for its artistic merit, but more especially for the courage and determination needed for its creation.
