St. Ives School of Art

Little is known of this establishment other Arthur Hayward set up a school in 1924 to concentrate solely on painting. Hayward's entry in Who's Who in Art for 1934 states that he was 'Principal of the St. Ives School of Painting'. Confusingly, readers could be forgiven in thinking that the School of Painting as mentioned by Hayward refers to the major school, still extant. This is not possible as the current school was not founded until 1938! Further enlightenment from any reader would be appreciated.
