Guild of Railway Artists

The Guild of Railway Artists was formed in 1978 and held its inaugural meeting in October 1979. The aims of the Guild are largely the promotion of railway art in all forms, past and present and exhibitions on this theme at venues across the UK and occasionally abroad. The railway has for over one hundred and sixty years, been a favourite subject for artists as depicted by such practitioners as Monet, Turner, Frith and more recently Frederick Gore and Terence Cuneo. Membership is not restricted to British-based artists but includes members from across Europe, the USA, Australia and South Africa.
