Society of Twelve

Established in 1904 its founder members included William Nicholson. The society also boasted other artistic luminaries of the day such William Rothenstein, who exhibited a portrait of W. B. Yeats, D. Y. Cameron, poet, art critic, playwright, wood engraver and illustrator Sturge Moore, Charles Ricketts, William Strang, Alphonse Legros, George Clausen, Muirhead Bone, Francis Dodd, Walter Sickert and sculptor James Havard Thomas. Comparatively short lived, the last exhibition appears to have been held in 1915.
