Connell & Sons

Based in London at 47 Old Bond Street and in Glasgow (est. c. 1864) the gallery started circa 1904 and lasted until the mid-1920's. James Hodge Connell a picture dealer born in 1834 at Paisley, Renfrewshire was the founder. He retired in 1908, handing over the business to his three sons James D. Connell b. 1863, Thomas Connell, and David Connell b. 1872. There is some indication from old catalogues that the Glasgow branch remained dealing until about 1937.

The gallery seems to have concentrated in general although not exclusively on etchers and works on paper in general by artists who included Andrew Affleck, Eugene Bejot, D. Y. Cameron, Hester Frood, Gertrude Hayes, Henry Rushbury, Nathaniel Sparks, Alfred W. Strutt, Edward Millington Synge, William Walker, Ernest Herbert Whydale and Mary G.W.Wilson.
