Taylor Galleries
This Dublin-based gallery, owned by brothers Patrick and John Taylor, was founded in 1978. Located in a central Dublin Georgian house, it took over the mantle of the Irish capital's leading commercial gallery when the Dawson gallery closed its doors in 1978. Director John Taylor had worked with Leo Smith at the Dawson Gallery from 1964 until its closure and inherited many of the Dawson artists. The gallery underwent several moves before settling in its most recent location. In 1990, it moved to 34 Kildare Street and in 1996, it moved to its present home, a large Georgian house (built 1759) at 16 Kildare Street.
Taylor Galleries show a selection of contemporary and 20th-century Irish painting, sculpture, print and works on paper. Artists who have exhibited there include Breon O'Casey, Norah McGuinness, Conor Fallon, Pauline Bewick, Kitty O'Brien, Nano Reid and Colin Harrison.
