Wills Lane Gallery
The Wills Lane Gallery in St. Ives was a significant space in the local art scene, particularly during the late 1960's and early 1970's. Opened in April 1969, the Gallery was owned and run by Marjorie Parr, an art dealer who also had a gallery in London. From 1969 to 1971, under Parr's ownership, the gallery became a showcase for prominent artists from the Cornish art colony in and around St. Ives.
Notable artists who exhibited there included Barbara Hepworth, Peter Lanyon, Denis Mitchell, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham and Patrick Heron. Scottish art was also included as the good and the great from north of the border showed at Wills Lane. They included Robin Philipson, Elizabeth Blackadder, John Houston, Denis Peploe and David Michie. In 1971, after what appeared to have been a successful time in St. Ives, Marjorie Parr sold her Wills Lane gallery to Peter Gibbs from Cheltenham. The reasons are not known. Marjorie died on May 27th 2007, in her 101st year.
