Wrexham Museum

The Museum's history began with its home, County Buildings, built in 1857 as barracks for the Royal Denbighshire Militia and designed by Thomas Penson (1790-1859). In 1879, it became a police station and magistrates' court with cells for prisoners, before opening as a museum in 1996, following the formation of Wrexham County Borough. Later major refurbishments followed in 2010, and a modern glass extension was added, with the museum reopening on Valentine's Day 2011. It now serves as a cultural hub, housing collections on Wrexham's history and becoming the new home for the National Welsh football museum, celebrating the region's rich heritage from Roman times to its football culture.
