Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design
Dun Laoghaire (pronounced Dun Leeree) is a coastal town approximately 8 miles south of Central Dublin. The first art school was established there in 1970 as the Dún Laoghaire School of Art. This school began as an art department within the Dún Laoghaire Vocational School. While the school eventually moved out of the vocational school, it never became fully independent, remaining under the Vocational Education Committee. In 1997, the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) was established, incorporating the Dún Laoghaire College of Art and Design as its School of Creative Arts. Well-known and respected in art and education circles, the school has a good reputation with many of its students winning awards, enabling them to pursue their studies overseas.
