Harrogate School of Art

The School, originally located in Belvedere House (now 2 Victoria Avenue), was a significant institution for art education in the area. It later became part of Harrogate College of Further Education before the college relocated to Hornbeam Park in 1985. The former school building, known as Belvedere House, was initially a private residence, then became the YMCA, and later housed various activities before becoming the School of Art in 1955. In 1985, Harrogate College moved to Hornbeam Park. The building later became Harrogate College of Further Education, offering a range of courses, including art and design. The college merged with Leeds Metropolitan University in August 1998 and was then classified as a university.
