High Wycombe School of Art
High Wycombe School of Art, later known as the High Wycombe College of Art and Technology, began life as the School of Science and Art in 1891 in Frogmore Gardens. It provided evening classes for residents of High Wycombe and the surrounding area. The school was funded in part by a tax on beer and spirits. After World War I, the school offered courses for ex-servicemen in skills like carving and wood polishing, needed by local furniture factories. In 1975, it merged with Newland Park College of Education to form the Buckinghamshire College of Further Education. In 2007, the College became Buckinghamshire New University.
