Leyton Art School

The history of Leyton Art School and its subsequent integration into the South West Essex Technical College and School of Art is a tale of technical education growth and regional collaboration in Essex. It began life in 1898 as Leyton Technical Institute, offering technical education for the local community, including art and commercial subjects, and evolved to include technical and trade courses. In 1928, due to expansion and increased pupil intake, the original site was abandoned and the School was merged into Walthamstow School of Art. A decade later, it merged again with the South West Essex Technical College and School of Art.
