Sutton & Cheam School of Art

Circa 1900, the local Sutton Boys' Grammar School began to offer part-time evening classes in art. In 1929, the grammar school changed locations, and the art programme became part of the Evening Institute and it then became known as the Sutton and Cheam School of Art and soon after World War II, as Sutton and Cheam School of Art and Crafts. In 1972, Sutton College was created, and the art courses became part of the newly created 'establishment'.
