Perth Art Gallery

The Perth Art Gallery is one of the oldest museums in Britain. The actual building dates back from 1824 and today holds more than 8000 items in its Fine and Applied Art Collections. Paintings and prints are represented by large collections of works by Perth-related artists including David Young Cameron, William Miller Frazer and John Guthrie Spence Smith.

The Collection of 20th-century art is enhanced by works allocated from the Scottish Arts Council Bequest, and the Fergusson Foundation. In the 1990's the largest single collection of work by Scottish Colourist J. D. Fergusson was bequeathed to the Museum. This collection enhanced by works of his peers and circle is housed in the nearby Fergusson Gallery in what was the former Perth Waterworks. It was converted into an art gallery in 1992.
