Fergusson Gallery

The gallery is located in the Old Waterworks building in the city of Perth. In dire need of restoration, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland and Perth & Kinross Council, granted an award of nearly £1 million in 2003 to assist with the work. The gallery holds the world's largest collection of the work of Scottish Colourist John Duncan Fergusson. It was gifted to Perth and Kinross by the Fergusson Foundation in 1990 which in turn had been established by Fergusson's muse Margaret Morris in 1963. There are over 5,000 works of art, including over 150 oil paintings, watercolours, drawings, sketchbooks and sculptures covering all periods of his life. In addition there are also over 6,000 archival items, which includes photographs, letters, books, news-cuttings and personal items.

Furthermore, the collection houses work by artists related to Fergusson, such as the work of his life-long partner Margaret Morris and members of the New Scottish Group, which was formed by Fergusson in Glasgow in 1943. This includes artists Carlo Rossi, Betty Simpson and William Vannet.
