South Wales Group

This Group was founded not long after World War II in 1948 and was originally a confederation of geographically based art societies. Its founder members included Eric Malthouse, Albert (Bert) Isaac and Leslie Moore and its first official exhibition took place at the National Museum of Wales in 1949. In 1975 due to the fact that members from across the Principality were invited to exhibited the society changed its name to the Welsh Group and its membership grew. Over the years members and exhibitors have included Cedric Morris, Ceri Richards, Brenda Chamberlain, Claudia Williams, Kyffin Williams, Peter Prendergast, Tony Goble, Antonia Spowers, Sally Moore, Ernest Zobole and David Tinker.
