Medical Artists' Association of Great Britain

The Medical Artists' Association of Great Britain was founded in 1949 and is the professional body for Medical Artists in the UK. Its members possess specialist skills in art and a deep, if not professional, understanding of medical procedures specifically, but not exclusively, in the area of surgery. Latterly their skills have been used to great success in facial rebuilding and the forensic sciences. The Society also exists for doctors, dentists and veterinary surgeons, whether working, retired or students, who enjoy drawing, painting and sculpture when at leisure. Exhibition venues have included the Fine Art Society Gallery, Walker's Gallery, Leighton House, Chandos House, Archer Gallery, Royal Free Hospital, Westminster Gallery, Royal London Hospital, Royal College of Pathologists and, from 1980 to 1987 and from 2000 to 2008 at the Mall Galleries.
