Printmakers Council

In 1965 a group of arguably Britain's finest printmakers who included Julian Trevelyan, Michael Rothenstein, Anthony Gross, Stanley Jones and Agatha Sorel felt a need for an organisation whose main aim was the promotion, expansion and development of printmaking in all its forms. The aims of the this non-profit making body is to enhance the public's conception of printmaking as an art form and to make known to a wider audience both traditional and innovative printmaking techniques. This has been done in a variety of ways not least by exhibitions which have taken place in a variety of London locations. These include the Barbican Gallery, London, the National Theatre, the Mall Galleries and the Natural History Museum. These shows have also travelled throughout the UK to diverse venues such as Scarborough Art Gallery, Rye Art Gallery, Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, Stockport Art Gallery, Weymouth and Chatham.
